John Dolson
Experience
- John’s career with Amoco + BP culminated as Senior Exploration Advisor for both BP and TNK-BP (Russia). John pioneered development of BP’s standard ARGIS digital play fairway risk assessment process while working global New Ventures. He recently finished 4 years of project acceleration and coaching of over 100 Russian staff in TNK-BP which identified over 4 Billion barrels of risked potential in large stratigrapic traps. He led teams which discovered giant gas fields in Egypt’s Nile Delta, and received a BP Helios Award citation for GIS based information management systems in Egypt. His technical leadership in the Gulf of Suez resulted in multiple company awards, including Amoco’s 1998 Worldwide Award for Exploration Excellence. He led a multi-discipline Asset Management team which reversed a 20% decline in the giant October Field and completed extensive facilities re-engineering. He also has mid-continent, Rocky Mountain and southern Alaska experience. He specializes in quantitative show and seal analysis to predict subtle traps and reservoir compartments. He integrates this knowledge with basin evolution, charge, migration and predicted fluid phases to develop robust lead inventories and play fairway risk assessment.
